Here is the library of stitches that I have covered and am going to cover in my posts, it includes lessons, tutorials, tips for improving the stitches and samplers. It is a work in the progress though, so excuse the stitches that don't have the links yet - I am yet to write about them.
Also, I'm quite sure there will be additions and changes along the way because the number of stitches and techniques in hand embroidery is just mind-blowing.

DeleteOH wonderful! I learned a few new tricks, thanks! I love embroidery and have returned to it, after a long hiatus, being a too busy mother. It is true, when they all grown, you get "your life back". I have been able to get back to my sewing now and am now taking great delight in crazy quilting, using EVERY scrap and tidbit and lace and trims all in the great stash from many years. What fun. DeleteThanks for the detailed stitch directory, didnt know it has so many varieties. I haven't tried embroidery yet but very interested in them. I would like to know how to choose which stitches suits best for a pattern we are going to do? Such as flowers, different flowers different types of stitches style, how can we pick the right one? Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteHi there! That's actually a small part of the whole variety of stitches out there, haha. I don't think there is a formula as to which stitch to pick for which pattern. First of all, it's best to try some of the stitches out. You said you haven't tried embroidery yet so maybe that's why this variety confuses you. But when you try some of the stitches out, you will understand that some are better suited for lines, some are better suited for filling in, some are not suited for small details and so on. So, the first step is to try them.

I have just come across your stitching tutorials (via a post on Pinterest) and then I found your excellent stitch library. I often struggle to remember how to do some of the stitches.
